Roam the Earth. Eat Chocolate.

In the summer of 2009 we were on a backpacking trip to Utah. We'd brought along the usual snacks, you know - energy bars, salty trail mixes, and, as always, some organic dark chocolate bars (a great super food). As we sat around the campfire that night, it struck us that a simple, salted-dark chocolate bar would be the perfect energy food. The idea for Salazon was born.

We began to explore a new territory, and immersed ourselves in the world of chocolate. From years of searching and exploring the outdoors we have learned that the answers to our questions are naturally all around us. That is why we visited organic cacao farms in the Dominican Republic and chose ingredients including 100% organic certified, Fair Trade Hispaniola cacao and natural, solar-evaporated sea salt to perfect our dark chocolate bar recipes. Then we launched Salazon Chocolate Co., the first salted chocolate brand on the market.

Trail Series

In honor of our backpacking roots, we’re proud to introduce the Trail Series. At least 2% of gross proceeds from the Trail Series goes to support The Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Pacific Crest Trail Association, and Continental Divide Trail Coalition in their mission to protect, preserve, and promote our country’s National Scenic Trails.
